PrivateChief Documents and Files: Folders, Versions, Google Drive and a Chief Who Reads Them

1:49 · Narrated walkthrough of the real app · Watch on YouTube

Documents and Files in PrivateChief: one private library for the household's papers, in folders, with dated versions, a Google Drive folder kept in step, signatures, and a Chief who can read every document. The Ashford household and every document in it are invented for this demonstration.

Documents and Files

What Documents and Files covers

  • Photograph a page, add files by dragging them in, and search inside every document as well as by name.
  • Each member's signature and initials, so the Chief can sign PDFs for them.
  • Folders; each document can be signed, downloaded, moved, renamed or deleted, and shared with the household or kept private.
  • A newer copy keeps the earlier versions, by date.
  • Moving a document never changes who can see it, and anything removed while organizing is kept for 30 days.
  • A Google Drive folder connected by its link: read only, copied into Documents and kept in step every half hour.
  • Your Chief reads your documents, so you can ask what a policy or contract says.

What the narrator says

0:00One private library

Every household collects paper: policies, contracts, manuals and statements. PrivateChief keeps them in one private library that your Chief can read.

0:12Photograph, sign, add and search

This is the Ashford household, invented for this demonstration. Documents and Files can photograph a page, keep each person's signature for signing, and take files dragged straight in. Every document is searchable, inside as well as by name.

0:31Folders, sharing and the document menu

Documents live in folders, like the papers for the new house. Each one can be signed, downloaded, moved, renamed or deleted, and shared with the household or kept private.

0:45Earlier versions, by date

A newer copy keeps the earlier ones, by date. Here the insurance renewal sits on top of the October ninth version.

0:54Moving a document

Moving a document into a folder never changes who can see it.

1:00Recently removed

Anything removed while organizing is kept for thirty days, and can be restored until then.

1:08A Google Drive folder, kept in step

A Google Drive folder can be connected by pasting its link. The home only reads it, and never changes anything in Google Drive. Its files are copied into Documents and kept in step every half hour.

1:23Asking your Chief about a document

And because Savannah, the family's Chief, can read every document, Laura can simply ask what the insurance policy says about water damage, and get the answer with the page.
