PrivateChief Follow-ups: Never Let a Promise or a Reply Slip Again

2:03 · Narrated walkthrough of the real app · Watch on YouTube

Follow-ups is the PrivateChief tool for the small promises that usually get dropped: I'll call you back, let me check and get back to you, waiting to hear from the school. Each follow-up stays on your list until you mark it done, and comes back to you at the time you chose, by notification, text, email or a spoken announcement at home. The household in this walkthrough, the Ashfords, is invented for the demonstration.

Follow-ups

What Follow-ups does

  • Keeps each commitment open until you mark it done or cancel it, unlike a one-time reminder.
  • Records who you are waiting on, with notes, and checks back with you at the date and time you set.
  • When your Chief notices a promise in conversation, it asks whether to track it, and adds it only after you say yes.
  • Shows the next follow-up for each active Project on the same list, with a button to open the Project.
  • Delivers each follow-up by notification, text message, email or the wall unit. Automatic sends a notification for ordinary follow-ups and a text for urgent ones.
  • Can also speak a follow-up aloud on a wall unit at home.
  • Done, plus one day and Cancel on every item; finished ones move to Handled.
  • Your follow-ups are private to you.

What the narrator says

0:00Promises that should not slip

Most dropped balls are not forgotten tasks. They are small promises. I'll call you back. Let me check and get back to you. Follow-ups keeps every one of them until it is done.

0:13Laura's list and what is due now

This is Laura Ashford's list, from a family invented for this demonstration. Five are open. Calling the roofer back about the estimate is marked Due now.

0:26Waiting on someone else

Some follow-ups are waiting on someone else. The school has been asked to move Sam's bus stop. On Thursday morning, Savannah, the family's Chief, brings it back to Laura, so the question never quietly dies.

0:41Your Chief notices a promise and asks first

You rarely add one by hand. Mention a promise in conversation, and Savannah asks whether you want it tracked. She only adds it once you say yes.

0:53Follow-ups from your Projects

Follow-ups from your Projects appear on the same list. Comparing the refinance quotes is a Project Savannah is running, so its next check sits here beside everything else, with a button to open the Project itself.

1:09How a follow-up reaches you

When a follow-up comes due, it reaches you the way you prefer. Automatic sends a notification for ordinary ones, and a text message for urgent ones. Or choose push, email, text, or the wall. Turn on Also say it at home, and Savannah speaks it aloud on the wall unit too.

1:29Done, plus one day, and Cancel

Each one has three buttons. Done. Plus one day, to move it to tomorrow. And Cancel. Nothing drops off the list until you say so.

1:41Handled, and a private list

Finished follow-ups move to Handled, so you can see what actually got done. And your list is private. Nobody else in the household sees it.
