For Families Moving On From Maple

Maple closes on December 31. Save your family's data first.

Maple, the family organizer, has been acquired by Wander and will shut down at the end of 2026. When it does, every account is closed, everything stored in it is deleted, and its connections to Google, Apple and Outlook calendars end. Whatever you decide to use next, the first job is the same: get your calendar, lists and recipes out while Maple is still running. The steps are below.

If your family leaned on Maple to carry more than a calendar, and you would now rather have people and a dedicated AI chief of staff looking after the household's organizing, PrivateChief may be worth a conversation. We should say plainly at the start that it costs far more than an app. This page explains what that money buys, so you can decide whether it is for you.

Questions about moving on? Alfred will call you.

Leave your number and Alfred, our demonstration Chief, rings you back — right now or when it suits you. A real conversation, no forms and no obligation. If you like what you hear, he can arrange a consultation with Dr. Bennett's team.

What Maple Has Said

Four facts from Maple's own notice.

Quoted from the notice on growmaple.com, checked on October 6, 2026. Maple's farewell page words the timing slightly differently ("active for 90 days"), and one independent guide reports that an in-app notice gave November 30, 2026. We would treat mid-November as your real deadline.

  • The date."Maple has been acquired by Wander and will sunset on December 31, 2026."
  • Your data."All data will be deleted and there will be no way to recover it once Maple is officially shut down."
  • Your calendar connections. The deletion includes "all connections to any external services Maple offered such as Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and TeamSnap."
  • Your subscription."Annual Maple subscriptions will no longer renew. Monthly subscriptions will remain active until December 31, 2026."
Before December 31

Export your Maple data, step by step.

Maple asks families to export their data, but as of October 6, 2026 it has not published an export tool or a file format, and its help center now asks you to sign in. So the reliable route is to save each kind of information where it already lives, or copy it out by hand. Budget an evening.

These steps are worth doing whichever service you choose next, including none.

  1. Check inside Maple first.

Sign in at app.growmaple.com and look through your settings for any export or download option Maple adds during the wind-down. Maple has said it will share guidance before the end. If an export appears, use it, keep the file, and still do the steps below as a backup.

  2. Save your calendar as a file you own.

If you turned on Google Calendar sync, Maple kept a calendar named "Maple" in your Google account. On a computer (Google's export does not work from the phone app):

    • Open Google Calendar, find "Maple" under My calendars, choose the three-dot menu, then Settings and sharing, then Export calendar. You get an .ics file.
    • To keep those events after Maple disconnects, go to Settings, then Import & export, and import that .ics file into a calendar you own, such as your family calendar. Google notes that guests and video-call details are not carried over.

If you used Apple Calendar or Outlook, open them and confirm the events you rely on are in one of your own calendars. Recurring pickups and practices are the ones most often missed.

  3. Copy out your lists, chores and routines.

Grocery lists, to-dos, chore charts and routines have no export route that anyone has documented. Copy each one into a note or email it to yourself, or take screenshots as a fallback. Typed text is far easier to bring into anything else than a picture.

  4. Save your recipes.

For recipes you imported from the web, keep the original links. For family recipes you typed in, copy the text into a document or print each one to PDF from your browser.

  5. Keep notes, contacts and anything you uploaded.

School contacts, allergy and medical notes, and any files or photos you stored in Maple: copy or download each one now. If a school, team or club sends email to your Maple family address, give them your own email address before December.

  6. Put it all in one folder, and set a reminder.

Keep the calendar file, the copied lists and the recipes together, then cancel any Maple renewal you no longer need. A reminder for mid-November, to check that nothing was missed, costs nothing.

If You Choose PrivateChief

What we can take in, and exactly how.

There is no automatic Maple importer, and we will not pretend otherwise. Some things arrive by a live connection you switch on during setup. The rest our team carries across by hand, working through your saved files with you by email, which is how PrivateChief setup is run. Here is each item, plainly.

From MapleWhat to saveHow it reaches PrivateChief
Google Calendar Maple's events imported into a Google calendar you own (step 2). Live connection
Your Chief connects to Google Calendar directly, reads the calendars you choose, and can add, move and cancel events on them. Nothing needs importing; you connect your account during setup.
Apple (iCloud) Calendar Events kept in one of your iCloud calendars. Live connection
Your Chief connects to iCloud calendars directly, using an app-specific password you create with Apple.
Outlook calendar, or a loose .ics file The exported calendar file. By hand, by our team
PrivateChief has no Outlook calendar connection and no file importer today. Send us the file during setup and we enter your upcoming and recurring events into your Chief's household calendar. Years of past events are better left in the file.
Grocery lists and to-dos Your copied lists, as text. By hand, or by asking
We set up your named shopping lists, with categories and favorites, and the household to-do list with each task assigned to someone. After that, you can paste a list into a conversation and ask your Chief to add it.
Chores and routines A note of who does what, and when. By hand, by our team
Recurring chores become recurring household tasks; routines such as reminders and the daily briefing are configured for your family during setup.
Recipes Links and PDFs or documents. No recipe box
PrivateChief does not have a recipe box or meal planner. Recipes saved as PDFs, documents, web pages or photographs can be filed in your Documents library, where they are searchable and your Chief can find one and read it to you.
Notes, files and photos Copied notes and downloaded files. You drop them in, or we do
The Documents library takes PDF, Word, plain-text and CSV files and photographed pages, which it reads. On a Mac you drop files in; on a phone you photograph a page; or send them to us during setup.
Maple's family email address Nothing to save; tell senders your own address. Your own email
If you wish, your Chief can be connected to your own email account to read, sort and draft messages. It asks before sending anything.

Live connections are switched on by you during setup, with our help, because they use your own sign-in. A hosted Personal Chief works through the PrivateChief apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac.

The Honest Part

We cost far more than an app.

Maple's free and paid plans, and the family apps now offering Maple users a new home, cost a small fraction of what we charge. If what your family needs is a shared calendar and a grocery list everyone can see, one of those apps is the sensible choice, and we would rather you chose it than paid us for more than you need.

PrivateChief is a different kind of purchase: a managed service, set up and looked after by people, with a dedicated AI chief of staff for your household. It makes sense when the organizing is a real part of someone's week and you want it handled rather than tracked.

Personal, per month $149 One household and its Personal Chief. Business is $199; both, each with its own Chief, $299.
Getting started $299 One-time onboarding for fully hosted service, with nothing to install. An in-home appliance is quoted for the actual equipment and setup.
AI capacity Cost + 30% What your Chief uses to listen, reason and speak, billed a month behind with no minimum. Or bring your own OpenAI account and pay OpenAI directly; voice is always metered.
First year, hosted Personal $2,087 $299 plus twelve months at $149, before AI usage. No annual commitment and no cancellation fee.

What the Money Buys

People, a Chief of your own, and follow-through.

Set up for you

A white-glove start.

We set your Chief up around your family: its name and voice, each member's access, your calendars, lists and documents, and the routines you want. We bring your saved Maple information across as described above.

Looked after

Engineers behind it.

Monitoring, updates, encrypted backups and client care are part of the membership. When something needs a person, you write to people who know your setup, and you can ask for anything; we tell you honestly whether we can do it.

Your own Chief

A dedicated server, not a shared app.

A hosted Chief runs on its own isolated server that we manage; the in-home option runs on an appliance in your house. Family members each have their own login and their own private information.

Carried forward

Work, not just reminders.

Requests that take more than one conversation become tracked projects. Your Chief can research, draft and send messages, contact providers and carry bookings forward, asking first before anything consequential.

Beyond the calendar

The household's paperwork.

The Household Office keeps the books, holds documents in order and findable, keeps the tax file ready for your accountant, and reads an agreement before you sign it. It does not file returns or give legal representation.

In the home, if you want it

A Chief in the rooms.

With the in-home option, your Chief also controls compatible lights, climate and other home systems, speaks through wall units, and keeps essentials working locally when an outside service is down.

The Next Step

Save your data. Then, if it fits, talk to us.

A private consultation is a conversation about what your family actually needs. If a free app would serve you better, we will say so. If PrivateChief fits, we will tell you what setup involves, how we will bring your Maple information across, and what your first months are likely to cost, before you commit to anything.

Questions

Moving on from Maple, answered plainly.

Maple's website says it was acquired by Wander and will sunset on December 31, 2026, after which accounts are closed and all data is deleted with no way to recover it. One independent guide reports an in-app notice that gave November 30, 2026, so finishing your export by mid-November is the safer plan.
Maple recommends exporting your data but, as of October 6, 2026, has not published an export tool or file format, and its help center now requires a sign-in. Calendar events that Maple synced to Google Calendar can be exported from Google as an .ics file. Lists, chores, recipes and notes have to be copied out by hand. If Maple adds an export before it closes, use it.
No. There is no automatic Maple importer. PrivateChief connects directly to Google and Apple iCloud calendars, so events you keep in a calendar you own appear without importing anything. For everything else, our team carries your saved calendar file, lists and documents across by hand during setup.
Far more. PrivateChief Personal is $149 a month, fully hosted with a one-time $299 onboarding fee or on a private appliance in your home, plus the AI capacity your Chief uses, billed at cost plus 30 percent or through your own OpenAI account. A household that only needs a shared calendar and grocery list will be well served by a free or low-cost app. See Pricing.
Maple says its connection to TeamSnap ends with the shutdown. Your team's schedule itself lives in TeamSnap, so check there, and in your own calendar, that the games and practices you need are still showing.
No. A fully hosted Personal Chief needs nothing installed: it runs on a dedicated server we manage, and the family uses the PrivateChief apps. Home controls and wall units come only with the in-home option, which is quoted separately.
