PrivateChief Routines: Everything Your Chief Does on Its Own

1:51 · Narrated walkthrough of the real app · Watch on YouTube

Routines in PrivateChief: everything your Chief does on its own, in one list of folders. A wireless button on the dog's food bowl, a motion sensor in the medicine cabinet, the morning wind forecast, and the household's regular jobs. The Ashford household is invented for this demonstration.

Routines

What Routines covers

  • One list of everything your Chief does on its own, in folders you arrange by dragging, up to three levels deep.
  • Each routine says when it runs: on a schedule, when something happens, or whenever it applies.
  • Buttons and sensors: if a button has not been pressed, or a sensor has not seen movement, by a set time, your Chief sends a reminder.
  • Regular maintenance comes back on the household to-do list on its own schedule.
  • Each routine says plainly what it does and when it last ran, can be paused, and has its own conversation.
  • To make a new routine, tell your Chief with Talk or Chat what to do and when.
  • Routines that use buttons or sensors need the private hub in your home.

What the narrator says

0:00Everything your Chief does on its own

Some jobs happen once. Others should happen every day, on a schedule, or whenever something happens. In PrivateChief, those are Routines.

0:11Routines, in folders

This is the Ashford household, invented for this demonstration. Routines lists everything Savannah, their Chief, does on her own, in folders the family can arrange by dragging.

0:25When each routine runs

Each routine says when it runs. One watches the morning forecast, and on a windy day tells Michael to close the patio umbrellas. Another is advice Savannah follows whenever it applies: check Michael's calendar before booking Ella's driving lessons.

0:43The dog-food button

Biscuit's food bowl has a small wireless button. If nobody has pressed it by six in the evening, Savannah texts Laura that the dog may not have been fed. Each routine says plainly what it does, and when it last ran.

0:59A sensor, and the regular jobs

A motion sensor in the medicine cabinet works the same way. If the door hasn't opened by nine, Michael gets a reminder. Regular jobs, like the gutters and the furnace filter, come back on the to-do list on their own schedule.

1:16Pause, Chat, and making a new one

Any routine can be paused, and each has its own conversation, so changing one is a matter of asking. To make a new one, Laura simply tells Savannah, with Talk or Chat, what to do and when. Routines that use buttons or sensors need the private hub in your home.
