PrivateChief Briefs: Daily News on Your Topics, Fact-Checked and Graded
Briefs is the PrivateChief tool for news that is actually about your life. Describe a topic in your own words, approve the sources your Chief finds, and choose how the news is read for you. Daily briefs arrive in your Morning Briefing with every story graded, and as-it-happens briefs alert you during the day. The household, town, sources and stories in this walkthrough are all invented for the demonstration.
Chapters
What Briefs does
- Starts from a topic described in your own words, including any sources you already trust.
- Finds sources, checks that each one is publicly reachable, and describes what kind of source it is.
- Reads the news the way you choose: just the headlines with no AI, just the facts, fact-checked and graded, the good news only, a skeptical consumer's view, or an investor's lens, plus your own instructions.
- Lets you choose four to ten stories and a length from one sentence to about a hundred words, and shows the estimated cost before you create the brief.
- Grades each story as confirmed, reported, claimed or rumor, flags how much concern it deserves, and adds a short note on what it means for you.
- Delivers daily briefs inside your Morning Briefing; as-it-happens briefs alert you at most three times a day.
- Links every story to its source.
What the narrator says
0:00Your news, checked before it reaches you
Most news arrives as a firehose, and very little of it is about your life. Briefs is daily news on the topics you choose, from sources you approve, checked before it reaches you.
0:13Laura's briefs, and starting a new one
Laura Ashford, from a family invented for this demonstration, follows her town and its schools, her son's youth hockey league, and school closings, which the whole household shares. To start a new brief, describe the topic in your own words, and name any sources you already trust.
0:35Sources found, described and checked
Savannah, the family's Chief, finds the sources, checks that each one can actually be reached, and says what kind of source it is. A town paper. The district's own announcements. A parents' forum, marked as often unverified. Anything she cannot reach is left unticked.
0:55How your Chief reads the news for you
Then choose how she reads the news for you. Just the headlines uses no AI at all. Or have every story fact-checked and graded, kept to the good news, read with a skeptic's eye, or through an investor's lens. Pick how many stories, and how long each one is, and the estimated cost is shown before you create it.
1:17Graded stories in the Morning Briefing
Daily briefs arrive inside your Morning Briefing. Every story carries its grade. Confirmed. Reported. Or merely claimed, like a developer's promise of a grocery store with no permit on file. And each one ends with a short note on what it means for this family.
1:37As-it-happens alerts and source links
Briefs set to as it happens, like school closings, alert you during the day instead, no more than three times, and the rest waits for the morning. Every story links to its source, so you can always read it for yourself.
